Recipes Clippings........Are they overflowing a drawer????

I love to cook!!! I am forever saving recipes...and when I say 'forever', I mean that I had recipes going back to the 80's.  I decided I had to get them under control... so, after a lot of thought, I decided to find them online and make a cookbook where it would be easy to add to,as well as a recipe easy to find.

As I began to see if they were online after that length of time, I was very surprised that 98% of them were.  SHOCK!  Over the first hurdle!  After doing hundreds of spreadsheets in 30 years of purchasing, MS Excel seemed a logical place to start.  The 'sheets' at the bottom became category tabs; each 'sheet' was given the same format of 3 column....(1)main ingredient (2) actual name of recipe (3) link to website.  I originally sorted alphabetically by column 1, but now I just insert a new recipe where it should be.  If I changed the recipe, I try to make notes but I can't highlight the 'note' portion of the cell in Google Sheets in order for it to standout...still thinking about how I'll do the 'notes'.

In the last few months, I have moved the 'cookbook' into Google Drive and it's much easier to work....'cause one tab is the cookbook and the next tab is my Google/Chrome search. Much better than working between Excel and Chrome.  Besides, I can pull it up on my phone wherever I am AND now, instead of printing it off, I simply follow the recipe from the phone.  EasyPeasy!!!!!!  Oh, I know....I can do the latter just by using MS One Drive....but I'm a Google person. :)

Of course, my actual columns aren't this narrow on the 'Sheet'  shown above.   LOL
Here's hoping that you, too, can clean out those clippings into something usable.  Please make comments and give me your thoughts or tell me if you try my method....or...(dreaded thought) say if you Hate It.  :)

Project Progress....

First of all, lest I forget to show what it looked like during and after the Sunday snowfall, here are the pics.

My last post showed the carpenter putting in new door from the house to the garage.....that's accomplished, as well as completing the installation of an attic stair in the garage.

When the temp finally rises, I'll be in the garage sorting and containing from storage up there and that will be a big relief....to Roger as well because he is a super 'neatkin' and can't believe how overrun with junk my garage presently is.

Now my part begins in the tiny little entry.  There's the wall housing the new door (paneled), a wall with an opening into the kitchen (wood exterior siding)

a wall with an opening into the office/laundry room (sheet rocked) and a wall with wooden shelves.

The goal is to make it look like a 'complete' room.

Today, I'm caulking (Roger began that prior to the new door), filling in the Large gaps in the tongue & grooved exterior siding with wood filler, and filling in the paneling grooves withi spackling.  Also, will use a 'deglosser' on the wooden shelving.  Then give it a day to dry before priming all the walls and woodwork.  I've order the anaglypta to cover all walls.  Anaglypta is a very heavy paper made for very rough walls and then you paint the paper once it's hung.  Mine will have a stucco 'design' and when finished will just look like stucco walls.  :)  A product we used when my late-husband and I were renovating 'old' houses .....the oldest was 100 years old.

More pictures AFTER the above is completed.   Come back soon!  :)

Afternoon thoughts......

Yesterday I posted a photo of my Nest's living room....so today I thought I'd show you a closeup of some of the reasons I enjoy sitting there.

These are old ceiling light that I fixed to give a soft glow above the television. Shadows make it look like several chains, but acutally there are 3 chains on each light.  I wandered though a hardware store, playing with different gadgets until I put together something that worked.  :)  Love those hardware stores.

I love the collection of green McCoy.  It was one of the potteries from Ohio that was so prolific in the 40's.  The tallest piece in the center back was a wedding gift to my parents in 1940.

There's just something comforting to me about an old wicker chair that has less paint than more.......lit by a 50's lamp that was my Grandma's. Two of my girlfriends found the chair fabric as a complement to fabric I was having made into slipcovers. Gave me a drawing of how to have the bottom cushion made (I sewed the rest and I'm no seamstress) Aren't girlfriends great? When I sit there I have warm thoughts of them in their homes in Texas.

I hope the sun is shining on you today.  :)

It's finally warming...

At 10 a.m. it's already a blistering 32 degrees....warmest temp at this time for several days now.  While I was huddled inside, I spent time going through 'saved' magazines...oldest was 1975...saving only those 'must have' items and scanning them into the computer.  The other thing I did was identify all the many places that need extra caulking....nothing like extremely cold weather to help with that task.

So, I'm off today to buy everything needed to solve the problem and Roger is coming tomorrow to execute the solution.  :)  I always feel silly saying this....but.....Roger is my boyfriend who lives on a lake 75 miles from me.

I hope today is a good day for my family and friends....whatever they may be doing.
